Good Morning, Sunshine!

I woke up at 4:30 this morning to a series of nasty surprises. First, the lovely and talented furgenius decided that she wanted to practice her high dive act, jumping from the highest point on her climbing tower onto my unsuspecting, soundly sleeping form.

As she landed on me, she managed to slice a pretty decent sized gash on my forearm which bled prolifically, dripping on the sheets before I could get the lights on to see the extent of the damage. (helpful laundry hint: hydrogen peroxide does wonders in removing blood stains.) So I bandaged myself up, stripped and remade the bed, and spot treated the sheets for the wash. (how Boygenius slept through the whole ordeal I will never know...especially the stripping and remaking of the bed since he happened to be in it.)

Since I normally get up at 6am for work I figured that I might as well stay awake and do a little knitting and spinning. I take a shower, put on a pot of coffee, and just sit down to spin when I hear the unmistakable sound of Furgenius tossing her cookies on the bedroom carpet. No sweat, I go get supplies and I clean it up (helpful cat yak tip: hydrogen peroxide works wonders to get cat vomit out of the carpet...but only if you have light colored carpet of course).

I sit down to spin yet again.

Again, I am greeted by the unmistakable sound of furgenius tossing her cookies under the dining room table. Fun times!

By this point, my coffee is ready, so I grab a cup and sit down to spin yet again. I take a sip and set the cup down on a small table to the right of the wheel and I get to spinning. Just as I find myself getting in the zone, Furgenius takes it upon herself to zip across the room, and take a flying Evel Keneviel style jump on to the table, knocking my full cup of bold Sumatran coffee into my hatbox full of prepped spinning fiber and all over the living room carpet.

(helpful hint: hydrogen peroxide does not remove coffee from prepped merino wool. Don't even try it. )

I got most of the coffee out of the carpet, but I think the wool just may have seen better days. I rinsed it out and put it up on a rack to dry. Fingers crossed that it might still be spin able, but I can always felt it if it refuses to be spun so it shouldn't be a total loss.

All of this goodness happened before I left for work this morning at 7am. Yup, it looks like its going to be one heck of a Monday:) Some days I really shouldn't get out of bed.
