Educated Old Zombie Monkey Knitting. Now with Quotes and Sammiches.

Ah Friday, glorious Friday. It seems as though this past week has flown by in a blur, and I can't really say where its gone. I'm thinking that I can't tell you what happened because I have been on a crazy insomnia jag and my brain has been reduced to rubble. Yup, color me zombified.

I've done the math, and I'm thinking that force behind the insomnia might have a bit to do with all the various injections and meds that I'm having to take for the trip to Peru, because I was all shiny, fine, and as normal as I tend to be before them, then after..boy howdy! I've talked to m y sister and shes having a few of the same issues so we both feel better in knowing that its some flukey medicine thing.

Boygenius and I have been having random guests over to dinner in our newly spit-shined nifty clean apartment and its been loads of fun. Last night was especially fun because one of boygenius' friends came over. He has never been to our place before and the two of them were supposed to go out for tea, but they decided to stay in and eat the vegan mouffletta sandwhich I had made. Boygenius' brother requested it the night before, and it's a great sammich...but only if you love olives and eggplant.

We learned the hard way that the friend of boygenius loves neither. Trying to be polite, he attempted to power though it like a trooper, but after seeing the look on his face after he took a few bites I stole his plate back made him some pasta Alfredo instead. He stayed for a few hours of great conversation. He is one of those folks who is such a smartypants that you can't help but take away something wonderful from any interaction that you have with the guy, and it forces you to up your game to keep up with him in the best possible way. I love that.

Great amounts of progress have been made on the quest for boygenius to start grad school this summer, and yesterday we got the financial aid packet in the mail. The good news is that we will be able to take out enough in student loans to cover it, the bad news is that they won't be available until he is already a semester into the program so we are going to be doing a bit of scrambling and creative financing to scrounge up the scratch needed to get him started. Yard sales and plasma banks here I come!....I'm thinking it might take me too long to find a black market kidney buyer at this stage in the game so its out of the question :) At least there is still the possibility that he may get a scholarship or an assistant ship. They haven't begun that application process yet so I'm going to be crossing the fingers and toes. (Any positive thoughts you can send our way on that would be greatly appreciated.)

Got some big weekend plans of what I like to call "the Worlds Longest Nap" if I can possibly ever fall asleep again, and running around to various antique stores to drool over antique spinning gear and hopefully random displays of antique monkeys. A trip to the library will also be in order because I have the Mason Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines book reserved. I need to more fully oogle the pattern "Margaret" because how freaking cool is it to be able to knit quotes on your work? Knitting and writing at the same time? I'm all tingly inside. Makes me fight the urge to pop over to the sale at webs to buy the yarn right now. It might even be enough to reinstate my mojo!

Wahooey!

PS- I also have to say this is my favorite post title ever. Have a good weekend cats and kittens.

I was going to write you a comment, but my word verification is "waitype". I think it wants me to wait before I type.
