$.25, $.50. $.75 a dollar!

(*ignore that little hole. I already fixed it :) *)
Since I have zero will power I went ahead and went yarn shopping Friday. Instead of the alpaca I was hoping for, I came home with 4 skeins of creamy white Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool to start the Hug me Tight.

There wasn't enough DK weight alpaca loveliness in any quantity large enough for me to get going on the project right away in store, so I made due with what I could find. That being said, I'm pretty happy with the choice. Looks like I'll have to find some alpaca sock yarn so I can knit with alpaca on the plane :)

So I started knitting like a fiend as soon as I got home with the yarn. Miles and miles of 2x2 ribbing! And since I left quite a bit of yarn at the end for sewing up the finished product, it was getting in the way and I was fighting with how it kept tangling up with my working yarn. A quick nighttime trip to the grocery store...Enter some frozen egg rolls and this cheap solution:
If you can't recognize this right away, it is one of the capsules that toys come out of in those funky grocery store lobby vending machines. So, for a whopping price of $.50 cents I have a very practical solution that is light weight and keeps the tail yarn wrangled. It will probably be helpful in some forms of color work as well(once I start knitting with color, anyway).

Why did this little piece of magic cost$.50 instead of the $.25 cents it should have? Because I got big green plastic glow in the dark dice with my first quarter. Now, they rest in the furry little paws of the Furgenius, who thinks its an excellent addition to her toy box. It wasn't a total loss.

Well, best get back to the ribbing. I've got miles to go before I'm done. (or, 18 more inches to be precise).

Ingenious solution!

At first I thought those prices in the title were incredible yarn sale prices you found and I was prepared to be quite envious.

I'm happy you didn't find yarn at those prices. (Um, is that bad?)
