Ah Friday, glorious Friday! Every Friday is good, but this one is super special-mostly because its the last day before I have a week off on vacation.
Am I going anywhere? Am I doing anything exciting? Well, Wednesday is my 3 year wedding anniversary with boygenius and we are toying with the idea of blowing town for a day or something but nothing has been set in stone. I'm thinking maybe just pointing the car in a direction and letting 'er fly.If nothing else, I have a bunch of fiber that I have prepped and ready for spinning-the heathery green merino/ alpaca blend I told ya about in the last post. I also have plans to finish the feather and fan shawl that I started out of my hand spun bfl because I can't start another project until this one is off the needles. ...I mean, a girl has to get going on the Christmas knitting for realz!
I did manage to check a little more temptation out of the library yesterday afternoon...2 Japanese cookbooks and Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Workshop. I'm hoping to get around to trying the baby surprise jacket sometime soon since its such a great way to use up all the pretty pretty hand spun that I'm cranking out. And, people are going to keep mating and having babies, so its always a great thing to have on hand for a gift.
In the mean time, I'm all about trying to figure out just which japanese recipes I need to try out in the next few days. Truth be told, I know very little (read: next to nothing) about Japanese cuisine, but it all looked so fantastic that I'm all about giving a few of them a shot. I'm a sucker for a good cookbook :) I had some Yaki Onigiri a few weeks back when Boygenius and I were out to dinner with freinds. Yaki Onigiri is a really tasty grilled rice ball-it doesn't sound that impressive, but I liked it so much I've been craving them ever since. I think that meal sparked the interest in what japanese food I could make at home that could be so simple and savory. (Look for the book "Let's Cook Japanese Food" by Amy Kaneko for what looks to be a good Yaki Onigiri recipe).

Hey, I like your blog! (Oh no, that sounds like SPAM, doesn't it?) I can't believe no one has left any comments -- or do you moderate and keep all the comments to yourself? Gee, I hope not...
By the way, I found your blog through the threadkillers group on Ravelry, so I had to stop by and check it out.
