Hey there.
Yeah, a little something was missing this weekend....namely the pics I promised. I'm a sorry individual, but I have an excuse (however flimsy it may be) alas, my poor camera is dead! crapped out, kaput. It seems that the ole Kodak has finally ended its run. Research is ongoing on what shiny little point and shoot will replace it, but till the new one is dropped down the chimney by ye old camera stork (or UPS once the bad boy is finally ordered) then I promise not to tease about photos that aren't ready to post. My heartfelt apologies!
Anyway, on to better and brighter things. Once my Fire Island was all set, soaked and dried, I realized in all of my newbieness, I was unaware that there is a right and a wrong way to wind yarn onto a niddy noddy...( I bet you can see where this is going....) and I sure as heck did it the wrong way. And let me tell ya, once you learn the hard way you will never make that mistake again! I spent most of Friday night on the living room floor cursing and untangling roughly 400 yards of freshly washed and dried yarn that had turned itself into the biggest mess of gobbledygook that I have witnessed in quite some time.
I managed to get it untangled and re skeined, and now it is sitting patiently while I decide what it wants to be when it grows up. I also managed to keep my temper in check and kept most of the cursing at a mild to moderate level, helpful because I a new neighbor just moved in that night and I didn't want to scare her out of the building just yet. (she might be a knitter!)
Boy genius and I took our planned Saturday morning trek to IKEA, and we were handsomely rewarded. I managed to find a cute little unfinished pine stool that is just the right height for sitting at my wheel to spin, but can also double as a nifty little end table when my can isn't parked on it.
We also got the wall mounted drop leaf table for the kitchen so Boygenius can set up his art supplies without being attacked by a flying, vengeful furgenius who is starved for attention and will not take no for an answer.
We also dined on the finest in swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes at their cafe ( I also highly recommend the chocolate overload cake...but who needs a recommmendation to eat chocolate cake? It's all pretty good if you ask me.)
We bought a yard of nifty printed fabric to stretch on canvas stretcher bars to hang as art on our living room wall. It looks awesome!
I still have yet to find the ultimate in yarn and fiber storage though, so the quest continues....
Sunday we spent quality time over at the genius-in-laws house, and I got to talk knitting shop with my MIL between swimming and rounds tasty margaritas. Good times. Monday was the day o apartment artwork hanging and organization. All in all a fabulous weekend.
Now I'm back to the grind and eyeballing some fine looking fiber from Crown Mountain Farms to replace the space in the stash that the Fire Island once occupied... always good policy to keep an extra bit of pretty fluff ready for action!
Here's hoping for a good and fluff-filled week for everyone!
