Pie, Ikea, and Labor Day excitement.

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!

TGIF for real. Its the beginning of the semester at the school where I work, and folks are crazy!!! The wackness was coming out of the woodwork, and I was seriously thinking that it was time to just lay me head down on my desk and cry.

I did what all people should do in such a situation...I took off at lunch and went and bought myself a giant honking slice of strawberry pie! I took it and ate in the sunshine of the parking lot, away from my little desk in the basement an d the ringing phone and non-stop emails.

Its true. Pie does have magical properties. If you don't believe me, go getcha a slice and see if I'm foolin'.

(does anyone really need an excuse to go have some pie? If you do, I just gave you one...Go get some pie. I'll be here when you get back..... Isn't that much better? )

In 1 hours and 46 minutes or so, the long weekend will officially commence. I can't wait! Boygenius and I are going to work on finishing up the very last of the unpacking and decorating of the apartment-yup, its only taken us about a month, but for a while there we thought we might be relocating yet again, so it didn't make too much sense to unpack to repack. Now that we are settled in for sure, with no chance of relo, its time to get down to business!

This might have to mean a Saturday trip to IKEA. (mmmm...IKEA!).

That boygenius of mine lurves some IKEA, and he's all about getting us organized and beautified. This is a very good thing-I'm a lucky girl. I'm hoping to find something nifty to contain all of the woolly, fluffy overflow that surrounds the area when I have been spinning, and to keep it pretty and out of the way. He is hoping to find a drop leaf table that we can put in the kitchen for use as a drawing table and kitchen prep station. I'm looking forward to the hour and a half's worth of car knittin' that's bound to happen each way.

Whatever the outcome, I'll just be happy to blow this Popsicle stand for a while and tread on some new ground for a minute.

In stash addition news, I got 8oz of the prettiest oatmeal colored BFL from Tracy at Copperpot Woolies on Etsy. Its absolutely divine. I can't wait to dive on into it. I'm thinking about doing a barber pole spin of it with some natural BFL that I bought from her a while back. It could make for a lovely shawl.

I've also been spinning the Fire Island merino that I bought from her this week, and I'm loving the way its spinning. I'm going to go with a three ply, and its my first merino, and first color spinning so I'm really interested to see what it will look like when its all and skeined up. I'm hoping to get the camera up and working after we get back from IKEA tomorrow so I can show you what it looks like-Talking about spinning is good, but it isn't nearly as cool without pictures of the F.O!

While you are waiting why don't you have a slice of pie?
