I'm in love.

Friday afternoon my nifty new Symphony showed up at work a cruel 50 minutes before the end of the day. Talk about time moving backwards! I think that last hour must have been one of the longest of my life to date-I was just so pumped about the prospect of playing with my beautiful new toy!

Once I carted her home, and unboxed her, I started in on the assembly. Boy howdy it was a bit more confusing than I expected due to the conflict between the dvd that came along with her, and the page of written assembly instructions. They were out of sorts, with different assembly processes happening in different sequences. Finally I just picked one and started to go with it-choosing to work off the written instructions as they seemed more up to date.

I was about 20 minutes into the assembly process when boygenius called me from the post office to tell me that he had locked his keys in the truck. After about 20 minutes of muttering under my breath and searching for his keys in the depths of the moving boxes that are still sprinkled throughout the apartment, I found the spare key and ran off to rescue him.

I would say that it took me from 4:30 in the afternoon to around 10:30 or 11 to fully assemble the wheel (considering the automotive rescue ate a decent chunk of time out of the middle of that, and being a terribly green newb it took me nearly 40 minutes to get the drive band on properly-god bless ya kind folks on Ravelry for being patient and helping me out!) and I got right to spinning my first lumpy, funky bobbin full of joy.

2 of the bobbins that came with the wheel were wonky, so I contacted New Voyager and they are going to send me replacements. They were as kind as can be. Thumbs up to the customer service. Now, I wait patiently for more bobbins so I can ply my brains out.

As for the wheel herself (yeah, its totally a she...not yet named though), shes just so pretty, and a dream to spin on... badly...with enthusiasm. I just keep pinching myself to make sure that its real. I've wanted to spin so badly for a while now, and now I can go home and give it a go anytime I want. That's a darn good feeling.

The big question now is what do you do with all the wonky beginner yarn that you spin?
Any suggestions? I'm thinking felted is better due to the uneven nature of what I'm spinning...felted slippers maybe?
