But I Don't Wanna Take It Off...

Well, its Wednesday, and yes,as you may have guessed I am sitting here wrapped in the feather and fan shawl ( Which is currently clashing terribly with my outfit). Outfit be damned! But at least it is keeping me warm, and wearing it is allowing me to pet it as much as humanly possible so its all good.

What is it about new finished objects that makes you want to wear them as much as possible for as long as possible? Is this just me? Who here hasn't gotten all kinds of crazed at the prospect of having to take the ole hand knit socks off long enough to take a shower? ...even though you know they will be there all warm and waiting for you when you get out? Who hasn't cursed the fact that you had to wash a hand knit and then atmospheric conditions seemed to mock you with the length of time it took for it to air dry? Come on kids, I know you have a tale to tell. I can't be the only knit nutball in town.

What is your best "but I don't want to take it off!" knit story? Gimmee.

Wahooo! Finally a Photo (or 2).

Rarer than a unicorn, more fantastic than....uh, lots of stuff (if you aren't counting the artistry of the photos themselves) I am actually posting pictures of a finished object!

(Disclaimer: These were shot in a basement on a 10 minute break with an unfamiliar camera, no props, or anything beyond bad florescent lights and an office chair.)

So, without further adieu...

And, the most unflatteringly angled art house shot I could muster:

I look all semi-put out/smirky-pouty in that one....And really,who doesn't want to look up someone else's nose?

These are the best 2 shots of the bunch. Time to rock some remedial photo classes methinks.

6 feet of fun

Sorry for the blog blackout, but alas, I was one sick monkey. Wednesday I got hit with a heck of a nasty, snot farm of a head cold and I ended up spending the bulk of the week lying on the couch reading trashy grocery store paperbacks. I managed to get myself upright and off to work today though, since I am finally back to being almost a human again. If anything, I was grateful just to see daylight and someplace other than my apartment.

During my 4 days of illness imposed solitude I did finally manage to finish my feather and fan shawl...still no pics as the computer at work had its batteries depleted in my absence. Hopefully tomorrow. The shawl is literally as tall as I am, which made for 6 feet of knitted goodness. Upon the final bind off, furgenius took the opportunity to plop on it and kneed it like she was baking bread. (I'm going to take that as a fuzzy little compliment). Not to toot my own horn, but I tell you that I'm in love. I mean, this thing is good. Ron Burgundy heiney compliment good. I want to be friends with it :)

I can wrap it around myself like a bluezillion times, its completely free of itch, and it looks pretty darn snazzy with my new winter coat, which I totally did not expect. Ah, I love it when the knitting works out. It's a beautiful thing....but it almost wasn't.

See, I just happen to be a "premature quitter" knitter on things of this magnitude. If it wasn't for the kind cheer leading of boygenius, I may have never have ended up with something this perfect in length. I would have called it a day at 5 feet maybe, and missed out on the perfection that is 6 feet. Yeah, the end of a project just may be the knitting kryptonite to my Super knitter. I get to the end and become terribly weak, but hey, I'm working on it. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem....

Next up, some socks for the mom genius for Christmas. Woo!!! I can almost smell my needles smoking already!

Till next time...
