When the Knitting gets Tough, The Tough Make Bagels?

Yesterday afternoon was certifiably lovely. Warm, sunshiny, knock-you-off-your-feet style lovely. Just the way you want your spring days.

Birds were chirping, squirrels were doing well, whatever it is that the squirrels do, and I randomly saw a guy swinging a boston terrier from a tennis ball on the end of a fishing rod (of all the days not to have my camera!). Must have been one heck of a strong line-that dog must have weighed 15 pounds easily, but I still say furgenius could take him in a fight :)

Since it was so nice, I dawdled on the way home, walking to the grocery store and getting the supplies to make homemade bagels because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Guess what? It was a good idea. Best idea all day (with the possible exception of the sneaky Christmas Hemlock Ring). If you have never had homemade bagels you are totally missing out. They are slap your momma good. (the recipe I used is found here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/homemade-bagels-recipe/index.html )
I toasted some onion and sesame seeds to put on the top, and I brushed beaten egg on the tops of them so they would be all golden and spiffy.

After the bagels were done, and I was luxuriating in carb-addled glory, I oddly felt no urge to knit so Boygenius and I cracked into a 20 pack of old spaghetti westerns on DVD that we bought at Half Price Books and we had a mini movie marathon.

So it seems that the knitting marathon will resume this afternoon, and hopefully I will have at least one FO to show off in the very near future.

Oh, and if you are curious as to why there are no pics of the bagel-stravaganza I just have to tell you that its better left to the imagination. If I showed you the pictures of what those bad boys looked like when they came out of the oven you would be cursing my very existence. Seeing the bagels would make you think about how freaking amazing they smell, and that just wouldn't be a very nice thing to do. I'm looking out for you here. Do yourself a favor and make some of these. Report back. I want details!

I read that as "Boygenius and I cracked into a 20 year old pack of spaghetti"

And I seriously wondered about you for all of twenty seconds until my brain processed the correct wording.

I'm so glad you were actually enjoying movies rather than ancient foodstuffs.
