Shh! Don't tell, but I'm totally cheating on my Over the Forest socks and the Lacy Hug me Tight.
After the total meltdown of bind off on the OTF socks the other night I needed a comfort project...a rebound project really, since its sole purpose is to wipe away the residual anxiety left by my tumultuous relationship with the socks.
It's a simple garter and stockinette triangle shawl that I'm knitting out of some of my hand spun Crown Mountain Farms super wash Merino in the Shes like a Rainbow colorway plied with some oatmeal colored BFL that I had hanging around. I plan on knitting on it until the yarn runs out, and I'm alternating the garter and stockinette at random whenever the urge hits.
There is only one problem.
As much as I'm loving the mindlessness of the project, the free flowing stitches and the fantastic rhythm of it all.. It's amazingly soft and it will be snuggly warm, but...
The darn thing is homely. It's fugly. Hit in the face with the ugly stick bad. The horror of it all. It looks like what would happen if a My Little Pony threw up a rainbow-and some hay-and a fifth of Jack Daniels.
It's the yarn really. There is nobody to blame but me, since I'm the one who spun it.
The fiber was gorgeous, the dye job is superb. I just hate! hate! hate! the way it looks when its knitted up. Some folks may like the looks of it, but it is so against my aesthetic that I cringe when I look at it. (I'll post pics when I get back around my camera so you can judge for yourself)
This sucker is a prime candidate for some over dying love. I'm thinking dark blue. Hopefully dark blue will mask the horror. Please, please, please let it mask the horror!

Oh no! Still, can't agree or disagree until I see photos. Then again, it totally doesn't matter what I think, since it's your shawl. Sounds interesting though.
