For the past few days, I have been hard at work holding down my bed. I've been trying to stop the world from spinning. Well, not literally- but for most intents and purposes.
Why is the world spinning? (you know, besides that whole "earth rotates around the sun" business that seems so daggone important? ) The answer my friends is a particularly nasty case of vertigo, which I discovered in a very unflattering way. Namely, I got off the bus on Monday afternoon, yakked my brains out and almost fainted. Yep, there's one to write home about.
After a few minutes on the ground, I realized that the world was still going places, and I was still a ways away from home, so I walked the rest of the way home bobbing around like a drunken sailor on leave.
When Boygenius got home, he noticed that all was not well, and he took me to the urgent treatment center, where they decided that I had a sinus infection that ended up in an ear infection, that in turn led to fluid on my ear, and poof! Vertigo. It ain't just for Hitchcock anymore.
Two days of bed rest and multiple handfuls of various antibiotics and decongestants and I seem to be on the mend. I came to work today, and its still a little bit spotty. I run into lots of things (which isn't too far off a normal day) and I'm moving a bit slower, but It's much better than sitting at home staring at the ceiling-especially if its going to be moving anyway :)
The big adventure will be the bus ride home. It will be a test of my iron will and cast iron stomach. Fingers crossed that I don't embarrass myself on this one. Otherwise I'll never be prom queen! (I'd say the ship sailed on that one back in 1996, but who knows...)
Wish me luck.
