We've got the Power!

Sorry for the total lack of blog as of late. I have a pretty good excuse though...We had one of the worst ice storms and most extensive power outtages of recent (or heck, even long term) memory and we, like so many others were without electric for a good portion of the last week. The city looked like a warzone, with trees just decimated, and coated in an inch thick blanket of ice and snow on top of it.

No electric= no Internet!

No Internet= no blog!

Crikey! No electric also meant no heat, so we ended up packing up the furgenius and heading to crash at the in-laws. A good time was had by all. Well, except for maybe furgenius, who is not the biggest fan of relocation, but all in all she handled it pretty well.

Also, No electric= no work. That was pretty spiffy.

In the expanses of electric less time, I even got Boygenius knitting a bit. He's mastered the cast on, and tearing up some knit stitch. Boy, I loves me a knittin' man! Its been too freaking cute. You know its love when you care enough to share your stash :)

Also, during this period of time, I learned a very important life lesson.
Never try to knit socks for Boygenius's genius-sized feet using discontinued yarn that you only have a limited supply of. It ain't gonna end well. Somebody is going to cry.

Wow! Glad you are back online. Now, a language question. You use the word "electric" the way I would use the word "electricity". I think this is a regional usage. Did you grow up in another area, or is this usage local to where you are now?

(Don't mind me, I always ask language questions. One of my blog friends says "on accident" instead of "by accident" and that's a regional thing, too.)

I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and we moved to Kentucky during my later childhood. We have some wacky language in both places. Then, as boygenius and I moved about through the Carolinas I managed to end up with even more funky regional phrasing.

Have you ever tried to make up your own slang for something to see if folks around you would pick it up? It's an interesting thing to watch for.Its almost like words are a virus!
