Who wants a one eared alpaca?

Gee Whiz its been a while! It seems like a million years since I last posted. Like all good vacations, it seems like it lasted dog years. Now I'm back desk jockeying and dreaming of more fibery goodness.

So here goes the in a nutshell vacation recap:

I spent a day or two knitting the ever-lovin' out of ye olde feather and fan shawl. I made big time headway, but I didn't quite get there. I'd say that I have about 30% of it left to go, but I'm loving the way it looks-and talk about a forgiving pattern! It's beautiful, easy to knit, and if you screw it up, ya can't even tell. I'm going to keep cracking on it every night, with a self imposed rule of completing at least 2 repeats of the pattern per night till its done.

I made my way to the library (again), and checked out a boatload of books (again). Tons and tons, and I read almost every darn one of them. Boygenius and I hit nearly every antique store in town. We went to a winery-with a petting zoo ( Why not get slightly sloshed and then go feed some goats?Sounded like a great idea at the time) ! We went to Indianapolis to visit the Children's Museum, which had a very cool comic book and cartoon exhibit going on. I lost a few days to a migraine, so we couldn't leave town like we had planned, but it was still a great vacation and a nice anniversary.

On Saturday, I hit up the Southern Indiana Fiber Festival and walked away with a fantastic stash of goodies- I was a good girl, (even though I went alone and I could have done quite bit more damage had I chosen to) and I kept the spending down to a respectable level ($78.00 or so) which was pretty impressive when you have folks saying things to you like "Hey Lady! Wanna Buy an alpaca? I mean, he only has one ear, but that doesn't effect the fiber....I'll sell her to ya cheap!"

Like alpacas aren't cute enough already, and I'm such a sucker for misfits. Ah, if it wasn't for the fact that Boygenius' keen senses would pick up something as tiny as the one eared alpaca in the apartment I totally would have gone for it. dagnabit!

So, since the seed of one eared alpaca had driven itself into my brain, I spent last night spinning on some of the heathery green merino/alpaca blend. Visions of fun wintry fingerless mitts are dancing about, which is good because I don't think I'll have much more yardage than I'll need to complete them after I've finished spinning.

Well cats and kittens, I should get rolling on. Got to finish a big old stack of paperwork before the day is through. Talk to ya soon!
