Mittens, Socks, and Puppy Butts.

So, in my itchy fingered rush to find a project to replace the gifty one that required the notoriously absent needles, I started not just one, but 2 new projects on the same day.

I'm rocking along on mitten number one in some red lambs pride that was lurking in my stash since the dawn of time (or really about 2 years ago if I try to scale down the melodrama.) and so far it is going pretty well. I'm winging it as usual.

As for project number 2, I started a sock that I didn't think would be a sock at the time, but rather the beginning of a mitten out of my "shes like a rainbow" hand spun. So once I realized that (duh) fingering weight merino does not make the most roasty toasty mittens on the planet, it morphed its self into a toe up sock. Is it odd that this thing would fit both my hand and my foot? If anything, it makes me realize that if I don't want to wip out a sock less foot to try on my sock knitting progress, then I can just put the bad boy on my hand and if it fits like a mitten should then I know that its pretty close to good. Not sure if this is a consistent thing for most folks, or if its just me. Who knows? But I'm also going to use the ole foot fits from your inside elbow to wrist trick to make sure its long enough when I'm knitting as well.

Anybody have any fun measuring tips that they would like to share?

I do know that the fun of watching a hand painted, hand spun skein of yarn turn into a sock has a lure stronger than coffee for me (and that's saying something folks...I can drink some coffee for realz.) It totally appeals to me.

kinda like this appeals to me:

When all else fails...puppies!

Eeek!
I got nothing to blog about. I mean, absolutely nothing outside of the fact that I have nothing to blog about to blog about. Yessir, not a dogonne thing. So what does one do when faced with such a situation?
Well, if you are me, then you post a picture of puppies.
Not just any puppies. Puppies that are so adorably wrinkly that you have no choice but to sigh uncontrollably with the puppy love that ensues. So here for your daily cute explosion are Annie the bloodhound and her 4 squooshy balls of love. Enjoy.
