First things First.

Ah yes, it's nearly 11 am and I am sitting at a desk in the basement of a small religious school (which shall remain nameless) drinking coffee and pondering this inaugural post. I guess first I will go with the basics...Its Friday, which is fantastic and also by some stroke of fate the birthday of both my mother and mother in law so there will be some cake and celebration, followed by a few days of trying to work it out on my first lace and latest knitting WIP, the Forest Canopy Shawl and some major catch up on the things that I have let slide.

Having never blogged before, it raises all kinds of questions as to the who's and hows and whys of it all, and I'm sure that the writing will be a bit wonky until I catch on to the rhythm of it. I couldn't proceed without my awkward version of a disclaimer so you know that you read on at your own risk :)

I'm thinking a bit of back story would be in order at this point for the kids who don't know me from dirt, and the short version is this: I'm a nearly 30 year old art kid who lives in Kentucky with a fantastic husband and a fuzzy, ginormous Siamese cat who runs the house. I spend my days as a secretary, and nights making things with my hands. Knitting has been an obsession as of late, and you can rarely find me without sticks and string if I'm sitting still for more than a moment.

Someday in magic dreamy land we will have little homestead where I can raise my own animals for fiber (since the Siamese just doesn't produce enough fiber to feed the monkey). In the meantime I hope that I can just become a better knitter, a good designer, an indie dyer, and all around fabulous force in the world of fiber.
