Thats some tricky stuff.

Have you ever tried to photograph a triangle shawl in progress? Could you get it to look like something other than a pile of yarn barf without taking it off the needles? Not me.

Here are the best of the beauty shots of the garter stitch shawl from yesterday. Consider them the before shots like one of those extreme makeover style tv shows. Eventually the thing will be free of the needles, blocked and hopefully far more attractive than the puddle of yarn you will now witness.

See? Thats totally a puddle of yarn. I can't even tell what that is and I was the one who took the photo. All bow before my superior photographic abilities!

Oh, now check this next one out. You can almost tell that its knitting. Yep, and see? there are some random yarn overs that make it look all fancy on the edge there. That's good stuff. Yes, I think I am almost seeing knitting here.
And finally, we have the more distant blob shot. Still looks like a puddle of yarn in a sea of mustard. The extreme blocking glamour shots will be available just in time for May sweeps. Gotta keep the ratings up. Otherwise we might get canceled. That would be tragic.

I don't do teh lace, but I am doing a garter stitch (well, mitered square) shawl, and I made mine 6 squares tall so I would have enough width at hip level to be cozy when I wrapped myself in it.

For me it was the width at the hip that was important. I don't know if that's useful to you, or will be of any help in deciding when to stop knitting?
