Sunshiny Day

I spent most of the day yesterday at various bus stops. In order to get to a 3pm appointment to get shots for various Peruvian diseases I would much rather avoid, I had to leave work before 1pm in order to make the various bus transfers required to get me to the travel clinic on time.

Now, I'm a seriously big fan of anything that keeps me from having to be squirrelled away in the basement at work and out in the sunshine on a decent spring day. This was a pretty good turn of events, and since my wrist seems to be on the mend I decided that I'd risk it and try to do a little random knitting in public. Double whammy of goodness!

I pulled out the ole Lace Hug Me Tight, the body of which is perfect bus knitting due to the unending 2x2 ribbing which can be picked up and put down at the instant that your bus shows up and the needles aren't so small that they caused too much stress on the wrist. I made a good amount of progress, and I'm now at the very end of the first skein of yarn. Once down, three to go!

I got a lot of random folks passing by who stopped and wanted to talk knitting. I love knitters in the wild, and I also love that knitters have no trouble stopping anyone else they see knitting to strike up conversation. In a day in age when folks are so distant and don't seem to want to connect with others, its nice to know that knitting can still be a thread that binds even random strangers. I'm very thankful for that.

Yay for friendly knitters and leaving the basement behind. Sounds like you had a good day.
